This is the course blog for two courses taught at History Department at Queen Mary University of London: The Whirlwind: Britain and Strategic Bombing, 1918-1945, and Britain in the Second World War. The course organiser for both is me, Dr Dan Todman. This year, on Britain in the Second World War, I’ve been joined by Dr Helen McCarthy. Please contact me with any queries or suggestions about the courses. For the moment, the blog functions as a place to collect useful online material and to reflect on progress. It will also be a place to gather the best student book reviews, and to build up both a companion to Britain in the Second World War and an annotated list of websites, constructed by students. Note that all the original material, including the course syllabus and reading list, on this blog is covered by a Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike Licence. So I’m happy for others to use it: just acknowledge where you got it from and make it available to others in the same way.
If you’re a student on the course, you can use the categories on the side of the page to find material for particular seminars, or browse through at your leisure.
